POSITION PURPOSE
The Evans School of Public Policy & Governance is ranked among the top five schools of public policy and management in the nation and is an innovative leader in public administration teaching and research. The Evans School’s Professional Learning Programs team has an outstanding opportunity for a full time TALI Project Specialist to ensure efficient operations and logistics for the Evans School’s professional learning programs and Teaching and Learning Innovation (TALI) team.

Reporting to the Director of Professional Learning Programs (PLP), this position is part of the Evans School’s Teaching and Learning Innovation (TALI) team. The TALI Project Specialist will assist in the long-term planning and project management of various academic and co-curricular programs for both undergraduate and graduate/professional students at the Evans School. This individual will provide key operational and logistical support for a range of programming including degree programs, graduate certificates, professional learning programs, and student leadership and co-curricular opportunities.

A successful candidate for the TALI Project Specialist position will thrive in providing inclusive customer service, building relationships, effectively balancing multiple competing priorities, planning for contingencies, and attending to both creative and logistical details. They also will be committed to integrating the School’s mission and values into the long-term coordination and day-to-day operations of various professional learning programs. The position works closely with various members of the Teaching and Learning Innovation (TALI) team, Evans School Faculty, and will likely supervise student hourly employees.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
TALI Leadership Support (30%)
  • Provide administrative support to the Associate Dean for Teaching and Learning including scheduling large meetings and events, assisting with TALI team communications, and assisting with long-term scheduling of TALI-wide programming.
  • Provide administrative curriculum planning support for the Master of Public Policy, Executive Master of Public Policy, Graduate Certificate and Undergraduate Programs.

    TALI Team Operations (35%)
  • Develop and manage a TALI-wide schedule of programming and implement project management strategies to track details and long-term planning for various TALI programs.
  • Develop strategies for process improvement across TALI programming and document process improvements in program manuals.
  • Act as a liaison between the TALI team and other Evans School teams and community partners.
  • Assist with database maintenance and tracking student or participant progress in courses and programs.
  • Administer and collect program evaluations for various TALI programs.
  • Manage TALI-wide administrative tasks including Docusign templates, student building and IT access, and supply purchasing and expense reconciliation.

    TALI Program Logistics (35%)
  • Support the coordination, planning, development and planning of Junior Summer Institute (JSI), NextGen Civic Leader Corps (NextGen), and public policy minor programs.
  • Assist TALI team staff in planning, facilitating, and implementing activities for EMPA courses and events, summer programs, workshops, receptions, and outreach and recruitment events.

    MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
  • Bachelor's degree
  • One year of work experience in a relevant field.
  • Equivalent education/experience will substitute for all minimum qualifications except when there are legal requirements, such as a license/certification/registration.

    ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS
  • Must possess and demonstrate excellent oral and written communication skills and ability to work collaboratively with UW constituents at every level.
  • Must possess and demonstrate skill at managing complex processes with many clients simultaneously.
  • Must possess professional integrity and a high degree of discretion and diplomacy.
  • Must maintain a service-oriented approach across all areas of responsibility.
  • Must be highly organized, able to work independently and collaboratively, with an ability to maintain and safeguard confidential communication and documentation.
  • Must demonstrate experience and ability to work with diverse populations.
  • Must have computer technology experience, demonstrated ability to utilize scheduling tools, and the ability to create and revise website content. In addition, this position will continually utilize and integrate new technologies to complete projects and administrative tasks.

    DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS
  • Experience in administration of higher education and programs and understanding of higher education.
  • Experience communicating in an academic setting.
  • Understanding of institutional structures and policies in higher education

  • Work will be conducted in Parrington Hall with opportunities for a hybrid work schedule.
  • Some evening/weekend program support will be required.
